Amnesty International is a NGO, mainly focused on preventing and stopping the abuse of human rights. Adding to that, Amnesty International demands justice for those whose rights have been violated. There are numerous Amnesty (student) groups spread out over the Netherlands, and we, from S.A.I.M. The Hague are one of those groups.
Our main aims are to spread awareness amongst the LUC students of the countless abuses of human rights over the world, to raise money in order to support the Amnesty cause and to actively contribute in the struggle against these human right abuses.
We have been and are attempting to achieve these goals by organizing events ranging from letter writing nights and charity concerts to going around bars in The Hague in order to get petitions signed. Most important to note, we all believe that our actions, how small or insignificant they may seem, actually do make a difference.
