Panel Discussion on Female Genital Cutting (FGC)

May 2 at 18:00 - 19:30

What is Female Genital Cutting (FGC)? What complications can arise? Should we intervene, And would that be ethical? If yes, how could we intervene?

These are all questions that will be answered by three different speakers during our MEDLIFE at LUC lecture and by the discussion following the lecture.

Prof Jos van Roosmalen from the LUMC will be talking about medical aspects and complications.
Eefje Smet from Amref (Flying Doctors) will discuss the alternative to FGC as proposed by Amref.
Dr Caroline Archambault will discuss the anthropological perspective.

It will be an interesting mix of lecturers, as Eefje and Caroline both worked in the same communities in Tanzania, which will offer ample opportunity for discussion.

There will be plenty of time to ask your own questions, so come prepared or be inspired by the lecturers.

There will be drinks at Coasters afterwards!
